Rivendell Breaks

Pickering is on the edge of the North York Moors, half way between York and Whitby. It has good A road links from Scarborough, Whitby, York, Middlesbrough.

To find your way to Rivendell by car......

1) from York direction; take the A64 to Malton, by-passing it & taking the A169 for Pickering
2) at the (only) roundabout in Pickering turn left
3) at the (only) traffic lights turn right
4) pass the NYMR steam station and (disused) trout farm - a minute or so later, the road narrows(sign), cross the road bridge
5) turn immediately left after bridge & cross over the railway line - open and close gates, beware of trains! (if you get to white gates of level crossing, you have gone too far)
6) continue straight ahead past a row of cottages on your left (PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY)

7)at the end,turn right up the Rivendell drive. Straight ahead for the Stables & the car-parking area / continue right up the drive for the Signal Box, Corner and our cottage. The Cabin and Lodge are  further on up into the 'Dell'.
From Helmsley direction(Middlesbrough,North East etc) : turn left at lights in Pickering(3) and follow above directions from (4).

Getting here by public transport.......

1/ Rail service via York to Malton Station

2/ Pick up the 840 Coastliner bus service from Malton to Pickering (bus station opposite train station).    http://getdown.org.uk/bus/bus/840-summer.shtml   for timetable.

3/ We are a 25 min. walk from the bus dropping off point near the roundabout in town, or pick up a taxi if you have a lot of luggage! Always worth letting us know if you plan to arrive by bus...we may be able to come down & pick you up if we're free.
